Hi, I'm Terry.

I am a Chartered Counselling Psychologist and a BABCP and IABCP Accredited Cognitive-Behavioural Psychotherapist specialising in online therapy for anxiety, depression, and other difficulties.

I’ve been working as a therapist since 2003, helping children, young people, and adults find solutions to their problems and cope with a range of difficulties. I provide counselling, EMDR, and cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) appointments to individuals and couples online via Zoom.

Alongside my work as a psychologist, I teach and supervise on the Postgraduate CBT training programme at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, King’s College London.

Previously, I worked for several years at the Centre for Anxiety Disorders and Trauma (CADAT), a specialist NHS service at the Maudsley Hospital, South London that provides assessment and treatment for severe anxiety problems, including obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), body dysmorphic disorder (BDD), social anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

For more than eight years I worked in various NHS talking therapies teams throughout the greater London area.

I am a current Executive Committee member in the Division of Counselling Psychology at the British Psychological Society (BPS). I am also Honorary Secretary of the BPS Psychology of Sexualities Section whose work is focused on gender, sexuality, and relationship diversity.

Prior to becoming a psychologist, I trained as a counsellor and I worked for several community organisations in Northern Ireland, including Cruse Bereavement Care, NSPCC/ChildLine, The Rainbow Project, Brook Northern Ireland, and the Northern Ireland Association for Mental Health.

How I work as a psychologist

I use a ‘pluralistic approach’ which is based on the premise that there are many ways in which human psychology can be explored and understood – no one theory or approach holds all the answers. I believe that therapy should be as diverse as the people who seek it, tailored to each client’s specific needs and goals.  My role is to help you through this process without criticism or judgement, to listen to your difficulties and provide feedback and suggestions based on my professional observations and specialist training. If at any time I feel that I cannot help you in this way, I will offer to refer you to another service or recommend an alternative approach.

Whether you’re in search of short-term support to navigate a challenging period, or you’re looking for long-term therapy to explore deeper issues, the pace and direction of our work together are always led by you.

My approach is both practical and compassionate. I strive to create a safe and supportive environment where you can feel comfortable sharing your thoughts and feelings. Together, we will develop practical coping tools and strategies, empowering you to effect meaningful changes in your life, no matter the obstacles you face.

Having experienced the transformative power of therapy both as a client and a practitioner, I am passionate about helping others discover their own paths to overcoming challenges and living a fulfilled life.

I am deeply committed to inclusivity, welcoming individuals of all backgrounds.
